American depository receipts of European stocks were trading 0.17% lower at 138.38 on the Bank of New York Mellon Europe ADR Index on Tuesday.
In continental Europe, the gainers were led by biotech firm argenx ( ARGX ), and software company Talend ( TLND ), which rose 2.7% and 2.2% respectively. They were followed by 3D printer maker Materialise ( MTLS ), up 2%, and geophysical equipment provider CGG ( CGG ), up 1.3%.
The decliners in continental Europe were led by semiconductor company Sequans Communications ( SQNS ), and Oasmia Pharmaceutical (OASM), which fell 3.9% and 3.3% respectively. They were followed by telecommunications provider Telecom Italia (TI), down 3.2%, and bank Banco Santander (SAN), down 1.3%.
In the UK and Ireland, the gainers were led by NuCana (NCNA), and communications company WPP (WPP), which climbed 4.5% and 4% respectively. They were followed by gene therapy company Nightstar (NITE), up 2.7%, and aircraft lessor Fly Leasing (FLY), up 2.6%.
The decliners in the UK and Ireland were led by Akari Therapeutics (AKTX), and biotech firm Motif Bio (MTFB), which lost 4.3 and 3.7%, respectively.
